Bizwrite co-founder and content strategist Tyler Reed, MBA, was quoted in an article published by The Drum reporter Webb Wright on September 17.

Titled “Brands have ‘serious concerns’ about agencies’ use of AI. How should marketers respond?”, the article explored brand leaders’ reactions to the use of generative AI by agency partners, citing legal, ethical, and reputational risks as major roadblocks to widespread adoption within their organizations.

The author explained that marketers are worried about potential legal penalties for misuse of AI and ethical implications, such as using AI to recreate the likeness of deceased individuals. Additionally, many brand leaders expressed concern that AI could be used by agency partners without their knowledge or consent.

To address these concerns, agencies must ensure the safety and compliance of AI models and datasets, communicate openly with brand partners about AI usage, and establish clear guidelines and contracts regarding AI deployment.

“The best approach is to be transparent,” Reed explained. “Develop an AI policy for your agency and convey this to your clients up front, [ideally] at the proposal stage. Acknowledge the level of AI usage in your organization even if it’s nothing more than the AI spelling and grammar features present in your word processing program and email.”
